What is Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)?
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) incorporates horses to help students learn social skills, character development and give personal insight into their everyday life. It is experiential in nature where students learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses, discussing the related topic and implementing the skills learned. The focus is not in riding the horse but in allowing the students to experience new behaviors and receive feedback from a non-judgmental being – The Horse. The activities with the horses are designed to reveal important insight and require the students to apply skills in the following areas: communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, attitude, confidence, boundaries, leadership, taking responsibility, teamwork, relationships and non-verbal communication.
Trinity Horse Farm offers Equine Assisted Learning School Programs:
Trinity Horse Farm’s staff and school programs strive to meet the unique needs of each student by collaborating with teachers, parents, therapist, social works and counselors. The school programs at Trinity Horse Farm are highly interactive, experiential based programs designed to promote healthy relationships. The essence of the school programs is the concept of “learning by doing” where learning is exploratory or experiential in nature and students are practitioners of their own learning. Within this program there are opportunities for both competitive and non-competitive horse related activities that promote the social, physical and emotional growth of each student. Inherent in Trinity Horse Farms school programs is the goal of instilling a sense of self worth, belonging, acceptance and contribution within a social group. |
